I asked GT Campers to do my conversion work because of Tim’s obvious know-how, plus I also thought he was a bit of a perfectionist!. I asked for a three-seater RIB bench seat in the rear, as well as a couple of eco-friendly features – real sheep wool insulation and a solar panel on the roof. These were all firsts for GT Campers and Tim designed a custom interior with narrower furniture to accommodate the larger bed. I couldn’t be happier with the finished van and it’s been a pleasure to get out on the road and experience all the benefits of a great conversion.

We first met Tim and Kathryn at BusFreeze Stafford, at the time we were still looking for our base vehicle and were starting to research companies to carry out a conversion.
We were instantly impressed with the quality of the van we saw and the knowledge and advice we received. We then visited GT Campers at their workshop and further discussion confirmed our first impressions that we would get an excellent and good quality job done. As soon as we had found our T5 Transporter we contacted GT Campers to do the conversion. We decided on the deluxe four berth conversion including Reimo roof and RIB seats. We also had a diesel heater and roof rails fitted. We decided to have both driver and passenger swivel seats. We had windows fitted with privacy glass.
When we collected our finished van we were delighted with the end result. Everything was finished to a very high standard and Tim went through everything thoroughly. We were confident about how everything worked when we left and we immediately spent a very comfortable first night in our new van!
We are now looking forward to many more trips.

I would like to thank Tim, Kath and their team of perfectionists for the fantastic conversion of our T5 Van.
We had a full conversion, incl. full kitchen, and Crash tested RIB seat/bed, new windows, wheels, roofbed, webasto night heater, solar panel, sound system, sat nav, tracker, alarm, carbon monoxide detector, the lot….. We also had lots of additional tweaks like engine re-map (now at 175BHP), sound proofing and insulation, colour coding of mirrors/handles, window tints to front windows, etc,etc
We visited the workshop a few times whilst the conversion was being done, there was always at least 3 vans on the go, at various stages of conversion….However, I must say, the gang was always on the ball, advising or asking exactly how we wanted the finishing look. Every aspect of the conversion was completed to a VERY HIGH standard. The van was even cleaned…. inside and out!!!!! And believe me it was absolutely filthy, I mean really honking!!
We took the van away after completion, Tim stated, “if you find anything your not happy with, I mean anything, call back in and we will sort it out”….well…we have only used the van once or twice over the last week or so, but as yet nothing to complain about
I wouldn’t hesitate on recommending GT Campers, there conversions are second to none and you always get service with a smile!!! I’ve seen many good conversions and many many bad ones too, but I would honestly say that the conversion on our van was/is probably the best I have seen to date. The materials used are quality and the precision engineered (CNC) furniture fits like a glove.
We are now about to take the van around the UK this summer and Europe over the winter, so I will be giving an update to how the fit out stands up to a pounding from my fat arse and 2 crazy jack russels, and I guess several of our mates…so watch this space…..
We are already considering another van for conversion, which we plan to start early next year….just hope GT Campers can fit us in.

Your comments about the base van ( VW T5 ) were spot on. It drives like a car, is economical, sufficiently powerful and best of all follows in the footsteps of the iconic, head-turning campervan. Having spent a long time researching the project and visiting several companies as well as major shows, we commissioned a full conversion incorporating Reimo superflat elevating roof, RIB bed/sliding seat, privacy glass bonded windows, Sargent electrics, side kitchen etc. The materials, appliances and workmanship that has gone into the conversion is of a consistently high standard – as we knew it would be! Attention to detail is essential with work of this sort to ensure that using the vehicle is as comfortable and pleasurable an experience as possible.
You have used your considerable experience of motorhoming and converting to create a first class product. After waiting and searching around to buy our ideal T5 the next job was to find the company to do our full conversion.
We researched the internet and looked at loads of photos and reviews before meeting Tim from GT Campers at the motorhome show on Lincolnshire Showground. After talking with Tim and looking around one of his conversions both my wife and I were excited about the quality of the work, the quality of the materials and the modern clean designs. One trip to Batley later to meet the team and to look around the workshop and the order was placed.
After the project had started Kathryn kept us up to date by emailing us photos as the work progressed, the best ones were as the new windows, Reimo roof and RIB bed was installed. Now its done and back home everyones very pleased with the conversion – we now have our perfect T5 with a brilliant perfect conversion and a pictorial history of the work being done.
